Wish and It Shall Be Given

Look at that word abide. It is another word that calls for action. It means to live in or take up residence.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t afford to not have some faith. I mean there are obviously some pros and cons to this and I think I want to be a part of the pros amen. I don’t have to be perfect, just willing. Oh he’ll take me just as I am the song says. Our pastor has told us that He is not interested in my ability, but my availability.

Repent-It’s So Much Easier

There are going to be times when you “miss the mark”. There are going to be iniquities in life because we live in this flesh suit.

You cannot afford to even get momentum gathered in the direction of negativity or non-repentance.

People, that is old behavior. You and I have a history of not being able to have just one. Well it is the same with an attitude of negativity or leaving. It has a powerful way about itself. The enemy is waiting for you to get on that train. Beware of this spirit. Identify with it quickly so you can disarm the enemy. You know how I do it? I apologize for what I have done wrong quickly. You are in Teen Challenge. You submitted everything at the door and waved all your rights.

The Hidden People

So often we talk about the pathway to a life in oneness with the Lord. Yes, we discuss the pathway to a life of anointing in the Spirit. Yet we rarely meet the Lord on his terms, on his playing field, in the secret place. This hidden life in God means ultimate death to soulish and fleshly motivations. The source of all strength, significance, and spiritual power comes from a history of seeking God in “the secret place:”. It is a personal, intimate relationship with the Almighty that imparts wisdom., character and motivation to a special group of individuals, “a hidden people.”

A hidden people accomplish their assignments from the Lord in prayer before presuming to know how to accomplish them in their natural strength. This means their work’s success or failure is based simply upon the answer to prayer. Because of the faithfulness and humility of their prayers, God uses them as a vehicle to bring His will to pass in this earth.

The next characteristic of hiddenness is that of forgiveness or graciousness. When we become hidden in God and dead to self, we are no longer “jumpy” or touchy. If someone rubs us the wrong way, we don’t lose our salvation. People can stomp on us and run over us and it doesn’t matter. You can’t offend a dead man. See, dead men don’t care if they get their own way, as long as God gets His.

The third characteristic of a hidden person is that of compassion. Compassion is foundational, affecting all of our motivations and decisions. When the love of God is the driving force empowering us for service, we will have the anointing to move in and demonstrate the ministry of Jesus. We can see Jesus’ earthly ministry that He was continually “moved,” or motivated by compassion. The results were miraculous.

Grow Up!!

Write this down: you pursue anything to the degree that you value it. That sounds profound but it is very practical.

You need to let go of some old routines and develop some new habits and intentionally change the way you think. The word says to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. The work out is your responsibility, and the work in is God’s role. So you can see that spiritual growth (which is the source of all growth in your life) is a collaborative effort between you and the Holy Spirit. God’s Spirit works with us, not just in us.

A willing person never says things like that anymore, because they are a new creation-the old has past, behold the new has come! Life changes always happen in the mind first. The way you think determines the way you feel, and the way you feel influences the way you act.

The Strength in Weakness

Admit your weaknesses. Stop pretending to have it all together and be honest about yourself. Now, he has something to work with. If you really want God to use you, you must know who YOU are.

Jesus sent his disciples out two by two. Staff is important, counseling has it’s place, but Jesus talks about a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

I’m just waiting on God. Stop waiting and get involved all the way. You weren’t in addiction half-way. Why do this thing half-way? All or none.

Define Your Moment in Life

Obviously, we must first make a choice. Turn to Deuteronomy 30:15… Therefore choose life it says in verse 19. Pretty straight-forward right? In fact, Jesus says n John 10:110 I came that they might have life, life more abundantly. The NIV says have it to the full. He wants so much for you.

A Real Encounter with God Leads to Real Change

So is the moral of the story that if you have a real encounter with God you get an emotional charge of excitement like Isaiah? Is that going to be your barometer when you look at sister Marcia and she has an emotional state of being?…..not! You look for a real change that has taken place. Now internalize that for a second. You’ve got to realize , “man I’m here to change, and there is no way that I am coming here for thirteen months of my life and look back and not be able to say that I had a true encounter with God. There is no way that my family is going to know that I cam here an not realize that I had a true encounter with God here…Well what are they going to have to realize that has taken place in order to know that? When you’ve had a true encounter with God, your attitude, your character, and your faith changes.

That place that God called you; that place requiring your obedience, faith, and patience; that place where you are confident God wants you to be working and functioning-that is the address of faith where God wants you to live. As long as you stay in that place where God told you to be, you are “in” faith and you therefore please God. But the day you give up and move “out” of that place of faith, you are moving to cheaper territory that God doesn’t value as highly-a location where you will experience the hardships and inconveniences of poor choices and defeat.

The Gardening Principle

How does your garden grow? You cannot neglect a relationship and expect it to grow. That’s not to say that all relationships are the same and need the same amount of time and attention. The nature and purpose of the relationship will determine the energy and time needed to cultivate it.

God Pulls Strings

Understand and convince yourself every day that God pulls strings. That is what trusting God is right. Having a confidence that he is going to settle everything and make it ok. True faith is confident obedience to God’s word in spite of circumstances or consequences.

How do we know that God is passionate about us? The proof is the cross. Jesus stretched out His hands and they nailed Him to the cross and He was in essence saying, “I’d rather die than live without you. That’s how passionate I am about my creation. I made you. I love you. And I’d rather die than live without you.

Thanksgiving Can Change Your Life

You know what I have found to be true in my life? I have found that I have an overwhelming need to give thanks. There is a desire within me to give thanks to something for what I have. Everything we own, we ultimately received from God and we owe him thanks. James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like the shifting sand.” Paul made sure that he let people in the churches know that he was thankful for them. Imagine how much better our church and our relationships would be if we expressed our thanks for each other.

Balance Teaching One

God’s way must be our priority versus the worldly approach that minimizes or negates true justice, righteousness, and godliness. There is a time to do most things, but they must always be done by God’s standards and not the world’s. While God wants us to provide for our families, being a workaholic and failing as a mate or parent is not being balanced. God wants us to study His word but not to the exclusion of everything else, especially one’s other important responsibilities. There is a time to have fun but not when it affects more important personal, family, or spiritual needs. Balance is an aspect of godly love, as shown in Philippians 2:3-4:”Lot nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”

The Law of the Picture

The law of the picture says that people do what people see. When leaders show the way with the right actions, their followers copy them and succeed. Great leaders always seem to embody two seemingly disparate qualities. They are both highly visionary and highly practical. Their vision enables them to see beyond the immediate. They can envision what’s coming and what must be done. Leaders possess an understanding of how:

  • Mission provides purpose-answering the question. Why?
  • Vision provides a picture-answering the question, What?
  • Strategy provides a plan-answering the question, How?
  • As author Hans Finzel observed, “Leaders are paid to be dreamers. The higher you go in leadership the more your wok is about the future”.

The attitude of the leader, coupled with a positive atmosphere in the organization, can encourage people to accomplish great things. And consistent accomplishment generates momentum. Many times momentum is the only difference between a winning, positive growth climate and a losing, negative growth climate.

Leaders cannot afford to overlook the importance of momentum: With momentum, Leaders look better than they actually are. With momentum, followers increase their performance. Without momentum, leaders look worse than they actually are. Without momentum, followers decrease their performance.

Team Concept

Whether you win or lose a particular game-which there are 162 in baseball per season, the most important and vital part of the whole game is the team’s cohesiveness. It is crucial that the team learns to read each other, share the same goals and has the same vision. They depend on the leadership to guide them but at the time of play, it is up to them to react without hesitation. Each team member has the ability to influence the person around them. Their attitude is vital and contagious. The team also has worked on memorizing strengths and weaknesses of the opposing team and each other. Instead of tearing each other down, they are willing to step up and do extra to ensure that the team as a whole is working effectively. There is only one ball at play during the game, therefore not everyone can chase after the ball to make the play. Someone has to cover the bases and be ready at a moment’s notice for whatever is coming up next.

Against the Odds

No matter how unfair life seems or how often you may have failed in the past, you can still change and improve your life. And not only change, but grow into the best, most authentic version of yourself that you can be. My friends, it’s time to stop feeling that the odds are stacked against you and time to start stacking the odds in your favor!

Built to Build

Be a people builder everywhere you go. Take time to compliment someone for no reason other than to please God. Do you want to see the miraculous or not? Look, do I have to remind you that you are in a spiritual program where you get to see the supernatural reveal itself? Watch what happens. Everywhere you go, make positive deposits, instead of negative withdrawals. When you get up in the morning, instead of applying your energies to how you can be blessed, find some way to be a blessing to someone else. If you will make somebody else’s day, God will make yours. I will say it one final time so you don’t miss your blessing. If you take the time to make someone else’s day, God will make yours. Make it a lifestyle, he will make your life an incredible beautiful portrait. Flow of God’s economy.. All you have to give is what you’ve been given to give.

Power Under Pressure

Friend, if you are facing a Red Sea situation, remember, it only seems impossible to you. God has a plan; it may be something different than you could ever imagine, but He has a plan. He will get you to the other side. He has not left you.

Plug It In!

Now what kinds of gifts will God give you? That depends on the job He has called you to do. Paul talked about these gifts in 1 Corinthians. God has every angle covered. He provides the job, the “service”, and the power. All you have to do is believe it number one, and gain that relationship with the Holy Spirit. Stop leaving Him out. He is your source of power. Rely on Him. He will give you the strength to resist temptation, yes, but do so much more than that. He will give you your life plan. He will feed you the details you have always wanted. He is the power to execute that plan that he leads you toward. He is a powerful person!

When the Tables Turn

Galatians 5:22-23 says When the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, gentleness, and self-control. You may have had your sins forgiven, but you achieved no spiritual maturity because your flesh was in the way. On the path to spiritual maturity, even temptation becomes a stepping stone rather than a stumbling block when you realize that it is just as much an occasion to do the right thing as it is to do the wrong thing. Every time you choose to do good instead of sin, you are growing in the character of Christ. So, God uses the opposite situation of each fruit to allow us a choice. Integrity is built by defeating the temptation to be dishonest; humility grows when we refuse to be prideful; and endurance develops every time you reject the temptation to give up. We are in a disciple process here, so every time you defeat a temptation, you become more like Jesus!
